2020 has been a big year for Project Initiative, and as a result we have welcomed a new member to the team!
Laura Hateley has joined us as our Specialist Tutor. Now she has settled into her role and is making a real impact with the young people we are working with, we caught up with her to see how she is getting on.
Describe what your job involves day to day?
Every day is so different here, which is something I really love! My main duties are to deliver MOTIVE8 sessions to the young people we support, delivering coaching sessions for WorkFit, as well as tutoring sessions for the Mentoring Qualification we deliver. I also have new programme resources to create, which can include filming videos and research. Once learners have finished on programme, a big element is their progression route – which is something I help facilitate and research.
Tell us about your experience?
My background is in Performing Arts, and after delivering a workshop as part of my course I instantly got the bug for presenting and helping others at the same time – I instantly knew this is what I wanted to do! I then went on to deliver more workshops, programmes and projects and have been doing so for the last 13 years. As I became more experienced with presenting, I then started developing programmes for delivery aimed at young people.
Why did you want to join the Project Initiative CIC team?
I have always wanted to help and support young people, so when the role came up at Project it was a perfect fit for me. When I got the phone call to go in for an interview and heard about their mission, team, and project’s it was everything I wanted to be a part of.
What are you most proud of so far?
I am really proud of how well the learners have responded to MOTIVE8 so far, there has been really good feedback so far which has been amazing. I am also really proud of being part of the development process for MOTIVE8 and helping to shape it to the programme it is today. I can see that the programme is already making a difference in young people’s lives which is so amazing.
If you could describe Project in one word, what would it be?
